A workplace shaped around focus collaboration and 120-degree workstations
HARMAN, Pune, India
HARMAN required a 65,000 sq. ft. workplace in Pune for teams working across the automotive and mobility sector. The office was planned to support focused work and creative collaboration through structured workstation areas, acoustic treatments and varied breakout settings.
A neutral backdrop gives the floor a consistent professional character, while controlled brand colour accents introduce energy across selected areas. Ergonomic chairs, plush informal seating and round coffee tables support different ways of working throughout the day.

Reworking the workstation model
The principal planning decision was a move away from the traditional L-shaped workstation. The proposed 120-degree configuration introduced a different relationship between individual desks, shared circulation and the wider workstation neighbourhood.
Because the configuration was unfamiliar to the client team, it needed to be assessed through direct experience rather than drawings alone.

Testing the workstation at full scale
Multiple mockups and workshops were conducted with the client team to review the 120-degree design. A full-scale setup was then created so the client could experience the workstation, adjacent circulation and working clearances before making the final decision.

Supporting focused work through acoustic treatment
Distinctive acoustic treatments were integrated into the workplace to support a quieter atmosphere around focused work areas. Structured workstation planning and ergonomic task chairs reinforce the practical character of the office.

Creating breakout spaces for informal collaboration
Breakout spaces provide a relaxed alternative to the workstation floor. Plush seating and round coffee tables create approachable settings for short discussions, informal gatherings and work away from an assigned desk.

Balancing a neutral backdrop with brand colour
Neutral finishes establish a professional and consistent base across the office. Selected colour accents add energy to work and collaboration areas without overwhelming the overall visual language.
The full-scale setup allowed the client team to assess the 120-degree workstation through direct use and circulation before approving the final design.
